 Dr. Luciana de Mesquita Silva is a translation and literary scholar specializing in race, gender, Black feminisms and literature in Brazil and the U.S. Her current research focuses on three main areas: 1) dialogues among Black women intellectuals in the Americas, especially in language, literary and translation studies; 2) Afro-Brazilian and African-American literatures; 3) translations of works by Black women writers and power relations in the publishing market. She is a Professor of English and Portuguese languages in the Bachelor’s degree in Tourism at the Federal Center for Technological Education of Rio de Janeiro (Cefet/RJ), Brazil. She is also a Professor of Afro-Brazilian and African-American literatures and cultures at the Graduate Program in Ethnic and Race Relations at the same institution. Her publications include articles and book chapters. Recently, she coedited a special journal issue on translation and Black feminisms (Ártemis, vol. 27, no. 1, 2019).
