Lívia Maria Tiéde-Myers is a doctoral candidate in history at University of Campinas (Brazil), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Lucilene Reginaldo, and the Rice University (USA), supervised by Dr. Daniel B. Domingues da Silva. Previously, she has written about black culture and the press in twentieth century São Paulo as well as the consolidation of racism in the city according to police records. Her work has been presented at professional conferences in Brazil, Mexico, and the United States. Her current research is being supported by a highly competitive grant from the FAPESP, Brazil. Currently, she investigates the post-abolition period in São Paulo, with an emphasis on transnational approaches with black communities in the U.S., South. Researcher specializing in Latin American social history with an emphasis on modern and contemporary topics, particularly Black Press, Black Associativism and Biography; gender, race, and class; and emancipation within the 20th century.
