Cassie Osei

Cassie Osei is a Ph.D. candidate in history at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Osei specializes in modern Brazilian history with attention to social inequalities at the intersections of race, gender, and class. Her research examines Black notions of social mobility, property, and wealth through their lived experiences of labor, housing, and education in twentieth-century São Paulo. She was a 2019 Fulbright-Hays fellow and Lemann Graduate fellow. In August 2022, she will be Assistant Professor of Latin American history at Bucknell University.
