Amber M. Henry
Amber M. Henry holds a joint Ph.D in Anthropology and Africana Studies from the University of Pennsylvania. Her research traverses embodiment, sovereignty, informal labor and Black women’s politicization in Latin America. She employs methods of ethnographic film, performance and community-based modes of engaged research. Her recent documentary, My Name is Angelina (2021), explores Palenquera women’s experiences of and mobilizations against police violence in the historic district of Cartagena. Amber’s work has garnered support from the Fulbright Foundation, the American Association of University Women, the Afro-Latin American Research Institute at Harvard University, and the Santo Domingo Center for Latin American Excellence at the British Museum.
