 Alfredo Duplat is Associate Professor of Spanish at Minnesota State University, Mankato. His field of research is modern Latin American literature and culture, with a focus on cultural debates, human rights, and the right to the truth. He is interested in the theory of narrative transculturation and different theoretical approaches which put greater weight on the social functions of the literary canon. His research projects focus on the intersections between political ideas, cultural debates, and cultural productions. He relies primarily on Latin American thinkers like José Carlos Mariátegui, Carlos Quijano and Ángel Rama, and also on Marxist theorists like Antonio Gramsci, Raymond Williams and Fredric Jameson.
